Thank you for joining me here… your support on this journey so far has been priceless to me. Please feel free to share with your friends and family so that we can build our community and continue to bless each other on our own particular journeys.

I wanted to share a little more about what we hope to achieve here.

In 2002, while on a visit to the shrine of St Francis of Assisi, I received a vision of an hourglass. I had no idea what the significance was, but I KNEW that it came from God. I bought myself an hourglass, and from time to time I prayed for clarity as to its meaning.

As many of you already know, after my own battle with cancer and subsequently losing my beloved husband to the same disease, my pregnant daughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor. By the grace of God, she also survived her battle, but it resulted in one of her twins being born a special needs child.

Over the years of being with my granddaughter, I saw what parents had to endure to give these children a chance in life and the seed of desire to do something were planted, but it was only when I returned to visit the shrine of St. Francis, that it all came together. His life and works reflected what I felt the desire to accomplish, and the hourglass suddenly had meaning: it would all happen in God’s perfect time.

Today, proceeds from the sale of every “Healing Desert – In the Sands of Time” book and every Healing Desert greeting card goes towards funding the operations of the St. Francis of Assisi Special Needs Center. If you are interested in purchasing, please email us at thehealingdesert@gmail.com.

The Center is also hosting our first seminar (free of cost), for: parents/caregivers of special needs children, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, BA therapists, pediatricians and teachers. This will be on Augmentative and Alternative Communication for Children with Complex Communication Needs, on Saturday, 29_^th September, featuring speech-language therapist Krista M.
